SENTIMENTAL PRODUCTS
Born 10 years ago, SENTIMENTAL PRODUCTS is a project created by the artist Joël Andrianomearisoa in 2010. The artist is questioning the state of being in love and sentimentality. A reflexion around the status of work of art today as a medium and its meaning but more globally Joël Andrianomearisoa is playing with the art market rules. These SENTIMENTAL PRODUCTS are conceptual objects mixing art, design and fashion – exclusive creations, readymade, derisory objects with the nobility of the everyday. SENTIMENTAL PRODUCTS are also a mixture of moments, places and people.
Joël Andrianomearisoa is interested in interpreting stories and offering them through these products. The chosen venues also have a meaning, SENTIMENTAL PRODUCTS like to shake things up and destroy boundaries. A pharmacy in Antananarivo, a five stars hotel in Paris, les Abattoirs in Toulouse, today a museum and a fashion boutique in Dallas at the occasion of his solo exhibition Serenade is not Dead at Dallas Contemporary. The project has no geography.
Throughout his work, feelings and emotions have always been present and are at the centre of Joël’s re- flexion. His work is inspired by human relationships and the way people, places and things can influence the way we are and the way we interact. SENTIMENTAL PRODUCTS are part of his work and of the message Joël wants to convey. We are all sentimental!
